  Overview
Posted by: Chaoswizard98 - 11-12-2016, 07:39 PM - Forum: Expeditions - No Replies

Expeditions are essentially a form of randomly generated questing that take the players around the map to important areas that they may or may not know about. Just hear what some of our players have to say! "I didn't know spawn had a lighthouse... ~amcgan (Drum)" "Aubri is a player right? ~Furosity (Saul)" "I don't even know what that is! ~Codewow" Hurray for learning stuff!

To start an expedition, you'll need an expedition start item which drops from the Wishing Well, Voting, and killing Vandred in the Valdrfjell Crypt. If you right click with said item, it will randomly choose a task from a list of possible tasks based on the difficulty of the expedition. An example of a task would be "Visit Historian Minas at the Digsite" or "Toss a diamond in the wishing well." After you complete a task, it will randomly choose another, and the more you complete, the more likely you are to complete the expedition and receive a reward.

Currently only easy expeditions are available, however there are more planned. Stay tuned!

  Syrocraft Update
Posted by: Chaoswizard98 - 10-28-2016, 09:21 PM - Forum: News/Info/FAQ - No Replies

Alright so it's been a long time since we had an update of any kind so... here we go!

Halloween
The Halloween Event has been fully updated and is now live. You can get there by typing ./warp Halloween
You can also trick or treat around the world by using the ./trickortreat command.

Syrobucks Coffee and Paco's Tacos
The museum area of spawn was somewhat bare so we filled it in with two new builds. Syrobucks Coffee, and Paco's Tacos.
More info on that can be found here: http://syrocraft.com/syrobucks/ and here http://syrocraft.com/pacostacos/

Church of Code
We have also constructed "The Church of Code" and invented the Codewowianism religion. Just be warned, if you pray to him, he might not answer for a few months... May his beard bless us all.

Wishing Well
The wishing well plugin has been updated. We can now add, remove, and change drops in game.
The wishing well now also supports multiple drop tables which can be made in game.

Expeditions
We also created another new plugin which brings "Expeditions" to the game.

More to come! Code needs to wake up first...

  Minecraft Feature Suggestions
Posted by: Chaoswizard98 - 09-26-2016, 07:18 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (6)

We all have things we'd like to see in Minecraft. List your suggestions below!
Also, if there's a way to get this list to Jeb... Let's do it lol. (We can dream cant we?)

===BLOCK IDEAS===
Basalt / Marble (Black and White stonebrick variants)
Dyed Planks
Blue / Green blocks to fill out the color palate more.
Steps and slabs of every "building" block.
Corn. (2 block tall crop) Simply put, it would make farm fields look epic.

===STRUCTURE IDEAS===
Cave variants. Huge openings, flooded caves, crystalline caverns (colored glowing crystals/ore)
More ore. Even if it has no use other than building and "something new to find"
More tree types and leaf colors. Fall colored leaves, possibly flower / fruit variants as well.

===BIOME IDEAS===
Fix the river biome so that it's wider and deeper. Water actually flows through it 100%.
Mountain Ranges that are huge and difficult to pass. (long time to climb / mine through) Possibly generate like rivers do, on the edge of biomes.
Bamboo forest / oriental biomes. We were promised pandas and cherry blossom trees after all!
Have existing biomes utilize the new flower types.

===MOB IDEAS===
Birds
Creeper variant that always explodes when killed. (dangerous to kill with a sword, must lure out of your town before killing it!)
Faster hostile mobs. Something that can outrun the player that is difficult to kill.
Stronger hostile mobs. Things that do legit damage to a fully geared player.
Zombie horde spawn chance. Chance for a huge group of zombies to spawn in with increased view distance.

===FIXES===
Food health regen nerf. If the player isn't moving / hasn't been in combat for some time, regen at current rate. Otherwise regen much slower.
Protection enchant nerf. It should NOT protect against fire, poison, wither, ect. Currently the "fire protection" enchant useless because prot does the same thing but better.

===OTHER===
Allow us to replace existing structures with our own. (so we can fix the derps mojang calls "villages") (Trees too if possible)

- Will automatically create a caravan of Llamas if being led by a rope.
- Will scare away wolves by spitting at them.

Snapshot to release Wednesday, September 28th.

Other things mentioned in general.

Birds are "Long Overdue"
Constellations are planned eventually since stars currently are generated randomly.
Turtles coming "When I figure out what they drop and what its use will be" Mentioned shields / armor as examples, but hinted towards probably not.
PvP / Combat still going to be tweaked. They may revert it back, but they really don't want to.
They don't have any "survival only, creative only, mob only, ect" updates planned. Instead they will add a small amount of everything each update.
New animals will come over time because "we want to give each animal its own unique behavior."

Irony at its finest...

  Thanks
Posted by: Smurfman254 - 09-10-2016, 10:02 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (3)

I know I haven't really played since last October with the Halloween stuff, but I just wanted to say thanks, not only to Code and Chaos (and all those other admins/mods) but just to those few of you who stuck around for a while (honestly if you are reading this you are probably one of those). I recently went off to college and have found myself, for the first time ever, without much free time. It seems at the moment that minecraft is finally over for me. I haven't been motivated to play survival, creative, or minigames of really any kind for months now and I haven't even been interested in any of the updates since 1.8 really (Today was the first time I opened up the client in at least a month). I don't think I'll be coming back more any significant amount of time again, but I want to thank everyone who played with me throughout the years.

I remember how I first found syrocraft, it was the end of my freshman year of high school and a friend of mine wanted to find a server we could play on over the summer. I searched for about a week until I came upon syrocraft. I think its been about 3 1/2 years since then and I can't really remember anything I really disliked about syro. From world 1 (at least I think it was 1) to the strip club up a pony's butt to when we had that wizards plugin (the race for max level for the ability to ride dragons still makes me laugh) to that other sex dungeon (thinking back we had a lot of strip clubs over the years), I want to thank you all for the fun times.

That all being said, I hope to find time to hop on every once and a while to talk with whoever
-Smurf

PS - I finally got a mic, bit too late but whatever

  Dynmap Locations
Posted by: Chaoswizard98 - 07-19-2016, 03:54 PM - Forum: News/Info/FAQ - No Replies

People always ask "Where is location X." and many new players don't even know certain things exist. As such, I am marking "important" areas on dynmap.
Hopefully this will make people more aware of these locations.
The things that will now be marked are as follows.

Towns
Markets
The Museum
Dungeons
Ships (Sailing waypoints)
Any other important buildings / locations.

  Defining: Griefing, A rant, a plea, an end to this bullshit playstyle.
Posted by: Codewow - 06-27-2016, 10:07 PM - Forum: News/Info/FAQ - Replies (1)

Griefing is the act of irritating and angering people in video games.

For this very reason, I am no longer shying away from banning ANYONE that uses various means to discourage players from enjoying the game how it's supposed to be enjoyed.

PvP is acceptable, it's on for a reason.
Destroying property on purpose is not allowed.
Personally attacking someone is not allowed.
Ganging up on someone for no other reason than to cause them grief is not allowed. Hence the term.

I'm sick of it, my patience has worn thin. I have warned people about it time and time again-- and it continues to happen.

There is a line in the sand and people have crossed it. It's time to grow up.

  Syro Merch

We're looking to bring some SyroCraft merchandise out for people to buy and wear around.

We need designs though!

Here are some ideas so far:
